Volunteering

Volunteers have been involved with Ipswich Hospice from the beginning, and contribute to every service we provide. The different volunteering areas include home and in-hospice caring, bereavement support, office work, fundraising, washing, cleaning, kitchen, craft, gardening, maintenance – something for everybody!

Hospice volunteers are assigned to the type of work that best suits their skills, time and interests. Some volunteers have a regular shift in one or more areas of volunteering, while others are on-call when required.

Candidates go through an interview and screening process to ensure the safety of hospice guests and their families, they are then thoroughly trained and supported in the skills they need for their volunteer role. Ongoing training is offered throughout the year through the provision of on the job training, workshops and seminars.

If you have a few hours a week to give to others, becoming a hospice volunteer may be a rewarding experience for you! For more info please call (07) 3812 0063.
